Monarchs, community members, traditionalists, family, and friends gathered at Epe Recreation Center on Wednesday, 19th of February,2025 to celebrate the Traditional Day in commemoration of the 25th Coronation Anniversary and 80th Birthday of Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe Land.
Ekohotblog reports that the event showcased a vibrant display of cultural heritage with different kinds of traditional performances, including the appearance of various masquerades such as Obaoluaye, Kilajolu, Okoro, Imale, Saingbeto, Sango, Esu, and more.

Each masquerade graced the occasion with unique drumming and captivating dance styles, bringing to life the rich cultural history of Epe.
In an interview, Chief Dada explained the significance of the masquerades’ presence, stating, “These masquerades have specific periods when they are worshipped, but on special occasions like this, when our king, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, is celebrating a significant milestone, it is the duty of the worshippers to come out and offer prayers for his longevity and prosperity in the community.”
He further emphasized the importance of the Traditional Day in preserving cultural values.
“Our tradition is our identity. Today, we are not just celebrating our king; we are also celebrating our heritage and showing the younger generation the beauty of our culture,” Chief Dada added.
Community members, dressed in colorful traditional attires, expressed their joy and pride in witnessing the grand celebration. Mrs. Yetunde Balogun, a resident of Epe, said, “I am delighted to be part of this historic event.
Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun has been a pillar of unity and development in our community, and it’s heartwarming to see everyone come together to honor him.”

The highlight of the event was the royal blessing given by the monarch, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, who expressed his gratitude to all present for their love and support.
“I am overwhelmed with joy to see our tradition celebrated with such enthusiasm. May the unity and peace in Epe continue to grow,” the monarch stated.
