- UNILAG students deny paying N10,000 for dockets.
- Actual fees range from N500 to N2,500.
- Semester dues, not docket fees, caused confusion.
Reports that University of Lagos (UNILAG) students are being charged between N5,000 and N10,000 for dockets before sitting for exams have been refuted. Investigations revealed that the actual fees range from N500 to N2,500, depending on the department.
Eko Hot Blog reports that some students claimed that certain departments imposed higher fees, but there is no evidence of an official charge reaching N10,000.

A student from the Faculty of Arts, Kingsley Eze, confirmed that his department charges only N500 for dockets, and payment is not mandatory.
“No, it is not true that students are being forced to pay N10,000 for dockets. In my department, we paid only N500, and it’s not compulsory,” Eze stated.
He also clarified that students who do not pay these fees are still allowed into the examination hall.

A student representative from the Faculty of Management Sciences explained that the complaints likely stemmed from semester dues, which students are required to pay at the beginning of the semester.
According to a 300-level student in the Actuarial Science department, “The total semester dues in my department are N9,000, covering faculty, departmental, and association fees. These are standard dues, not an extra charge for dockets.”

The breakdown of these dues includes N1,000 for faculty fees, N2,000 for departmental fees, N2,000 for association dues, and N500 for club membership.
The controversy appears to be a misunderstanding about regular semester dues rather than an additional charge for exam dockets.
