Police in Edo State have confirmed the killing of two farmers, Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello, by suspected herdsmen in Okpekpe, Etsako East Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the attack occurred on Monday while the victims were on their way to the farm. The Chief of Okpekpe reported the incident to the police around 9:00 a.m.

CSP Moses Yamu, the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, stated that officers, including the Divisional Police Officer and mobile police units deployed in Uzanu, found the victims’ lifeless bodies at the scene.

In response to the attack, Yamu assured that security measures in the area had been reviewed to track down the perpetrators and prevent further incidents.
The killings come just three days after another attack in Ovia South West Local Government, where 23 farmers were feared dead in coordinated assaults on seven farming settlements.
