In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, organized a pre-Ramadan lecture on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

The lecture attracted a large congregation, including religious leaders, community heads, and residents who gathered to learn about the significance of Ramadan and the recommended practices during the holy month.
In his keynote address, the Grand Chief Imam and President General of the League of Imams and Alfas, Epe Division, Sheikh Abiola Sadala Aliru, expressed his joy for the forthcoming holy month, emphasizing the importance of Ramadan as an opportunity to draw closer to Almighty Allah.
He urged Muslims to prepare both body and soul for the fast, stressing the need for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and increased devotion.
“Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink; it is a time for spiritual purification, self-restraint, and compassion towards others.
I encourage every Muslim to embrace this sacred period with sincerity and dedication,” Sheikh Aliru advised.
He further recommended that Muslims undergo medical checkups to avoid health challenges during the fasting period.
“It is essential to take care of our health while fasting. Getting medical advice will help prevent any health complications and ensure a smooth and rewarding Ramadan experience,” he added.
Sheikh Aliru also called on the Muslim community to cultivate the habit of giving, especially in light of the current economic challenges facing the nation.
“This is a time to show love, care, and generosity. Sharing with those in need, no matter how little, goes a long way in spreading joy and easing burdens,” he noted.
The lecture of the day was delivered by Sheikh Fadilat Sheikh Muh’d Muideen Folohunsho Balogun, popularly known as Ilah L Amamu Inshallah and Mufty One, Olori Omokewu of Epe Division.
He enlightened the congregation on the significance of Ramadan, highlighting the importance of maintaining piety, humility, and discipline throughout the fasting period.
Sheikh Balogun elaborated on the “Do’s and Don’ts” of Ramadan, urging Muslims to engage in increased acts of worship, including prayers, Quran recitation, and charitable deeds.
He also emphasized the need to avoid negative habits such as gossip, backbiting, and unnecessary arguments during the holy month.
“Ramadan is a period of self-evaluation and spiritual growth. We must seize this opportunity to renew our faith, seek forgiveness, and strengthen our connection with Allah,” Sheikh Balogun said.
Alhaji Waliu Onibon, Chairman of the occasion, expressed his gratitude to all the guests and participants for their presence and support.
He commended the organizers for their efforts in fostering spiritual enlightenment within the community.
“This pre-Ramadan lecture has provided us with the necessary knowledge and inspiration to make the most of the holy month.
