The Delta State Police Command has successfully rescued five worshippers abducted during a night vigil at their church in Ogwashi-Uku.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the operation, conducted in Ubuluku Forest, also led to the recovery of ₦1.3 million believed to be ransom money.

During the incident, the church pastor was shot and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

In response, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda deployed tactical teams, including members of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, to carry out the rescue.
Working in tandem with Ubuluku community vigilantes and local residents, police stormed the kidnappers’ hideout. Although the suspects fired at the officers, they ultimately fled, abandoning the five hostages, who were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.
SP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed that security operatives also recovered 13 expended cartridges alongside the ransom money.
