An 18-year-old mechanic, identified as Quadri, has been apprehended in Epe for allegedly stealing electrical wires from a residential compound.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Quadri reportedly wandered out of his home without any clear destination.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to his confession, he took advantage of the absence of residents in the area to jump into a compound and remove electrical wires from the building.
Speaking after his arrest, Quadri admitted to having engaged in similar thefts in the past, stealing various items which he then sold to a buyer named Bolar for as little as ₦1,000.
“I didn’t have anywhere in mind when I left home, but on my way, I noticed that the place was quiet. So I jumped into the compound and took the wire,” Quadri confessed.
“I have done this many times before, and after stealing, I sell to Bolar at ₦1,000 or more, depending on what I get.”
Residents in the area, who had been complaining about recurring cases of missing electrical wires, generator and other household items, expressed relief at his apprehension.

A resident Mr. Taofeek said, “We have been facing issues of petty theft in this area, and it’s frustrating. We hope that this serves as a warning to others engaging in similar acts.”
The suspect has been handed over to the security authority for further investigation.
Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to curb criminal activities in the community.
