The leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly took a dramatic turn on Sunday as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intervened in a last-minute effort to reconcile warring factions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that gathered that a high-level meeting was convened, where party leaders urged aggrieved lawmakers to reconsider their stance and support the reinstatement of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker.
Sources revealed that several lawmakers backing Mojisola Meranda as Speaker were initially unwilling to yield, insisting they were prepared to face the consequences of their decision.
A lawmaker who attended the meeting told Vanguard: “The 34 lawmakers were adamant. When they arrived at the Assembly, their expressions said it all. They felt disregarded by the party’s intervention.”
Despite their firm opposition, Governor Sanwo-Olu and other key stakeholders eventually persuaded them to shift their stance, paving the way for Obasa’s reinstatement on Monday.

While the crisis appears to have been resolved for now, sources within the Assembly suggest that lingering discontent remains. Some lawmakers are reportedly dissatisfied with how the leadership managed the situation, raising concerns about future stability within the House.
