A 52-year-old man, Salihu Byezhe, died after collapsing during Subhi prayers at a mosque in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that eyewitnesses report that after finishing his Sahur (pre-dawn meal) and performing ablution, Byezhe joined other worshippers for early morning prayers when he suddenly slumped.

Musa Dantani, a Gudaba resident present at the scene, recounted, “We were in the middle of prayers when he collapsed. Some of us quickly carried him to the hospital. Although he was still breathing on the way, he unfortunately passed away upon arrival.”
A doctor at the Kuje hospital later confirmed that Byezhe’s death was due to high blood pressure, noting that his condition may have worsened during the prayers.

One of his sons, who was also in the mosque, accompanied the Good Samaritans to the hospital and was present when the doctor pronounced him dead.
Balezhe’s remains were interred at approximately 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, in accordance with Islamic rites.
