In a dramatic turn of events, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was denied access to the state’s House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday, as he attempted to prevent the state’s budget presentation in accordance with a recent Supreme Court judgment.

One of Fubara’s supporters confirmed that lawmakers had shut the gate against the governor, adding further tension to the ongoing political standoff between the executive and legislative branches of the Rivers State government.
“Martin Amaehule led assembly shut the gate against His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara; preventing the Governor from re-presenting the 2025 budget. The whole world can now see who the aggressor is. I like how everything is playing out.”

In a video monitored by our correspondent Governor Fubara said “We’re here to comply with the supreme court judgment and before my arrival i’ve already made several attempts to reach the Honourable Speaker of the River state house of assembly, but it’s unfortunate that at the gates you can see that the place is completely sealed.
There’s no sign that anything is going to happen today the reason why we’re doing this i’ve always said it is the interest of our people which is the most important well i don’t think there’s anything to worry about maybe they’re working on their letter i expect to hear from them maybe after this. He said”
