EKO HOT BLOG reports that transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Chelsea walked away from negotiations after failing to agree on wages with the England international. Despite being impressed by Sancho’s performances during his season-long loan, the London club could not match the high earnings he commands at United.
Sancho, 25, joined Chelsea on loan last summer with a £25 million buyout clause included in the deal. Over the course of the season, he made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing ten assists. His contribution had initially encouraged Chelsea to explore the option of a full transfer.
However, multiple attempts by Chelsea to negotiate a lower wage package for the winger were unsuccessful. The club eventually decided it was not financially viable to proceed with the deal.
Romano added that Sancho is not interested in returning to Manchester United, where his relationship with the club and coaching staff has reportedly been strained. This has intensified speculation that he will pursue a new permanent move during the summer transfer window.
Earlier reports by journalist David Ornstein indicated that Chelsea had even considered paying £5 million to terminate the loan early, but ultimately decided to let the agreement run its full course, which ends on June 30.
With his Chelsea exit confirmed and no future at United, Sancho’s next move will be closely watched as clubs across Europe assess his availability.
