EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was announced in a communiqué released after a closed-door session involving JUSUN leadership, representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, led by Minister Muhammad Dingyadi, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other relevant parties.
According to the statement, JUSUN agreed to call off the industrial action following interventions from the CJN and key federal actors, providing the Federal Government with a one-month window to address the union’s demands.
“JUSUN agrees to oblige the intervention of the CJN, Minister of Labour and Employment, NLC, and other stakeholders and allow one month for negotiations,” the communiqué read.
As part of the agreement, the Federal Government is expected to release allocated funds to the judiciary within the stipulated period. The communiqué also directed that the union’s demands be acted upon immediately after disbursement.
JUSUN’s demands include the full implementation of the proposed ₦70,000 minimum wage, payment of outstanding arrears, a 25/35 percent salary increase, and the settlement of five months’ wage award arrears.
Following the agreement, the union has instructed all judiciary workers nationwide to resume duties from Wednesday, effectively ending the short-lived industrial action.
JUSUN expressed optimism that the commitments made by the government would be fulfilled within the agreed timeframe, warning that failure to meet the demands could result in further disruptions to the judicial system.
