A devastating fire outbreak recently swept through the Kara Timber Market in Birnin Kebbi, causing widespread destruction and leaving shop owners and traders counting their losses, Eko Hot Blog reports.
The inferno, which reportedly started shortly after dawn prayers, engulfed the timber section of the market, consuming structures and merchandise worth millions of naira.

Eyewitnesses described the fire as sudden and rapidly spreading due to the presence of flammable materials, including timber and other combustible items.
Local residents and traders attempted to salvage goods before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
One of the affected traders, Alhaji Musa Dandago, expressed his despair over the loss of his shop and merchandise. The incident has left the trading community in Birnin Kebbi reeling as they grapple with the financial impact of the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities are investigating the incident.
“I have lost everything. All the wood and machinery I stored here are gone. This is our livelihood, and many of us have nowhere to start again,” he said tearfully.
While no lives were lost in the incident, the scale of destruction has left many affected families in distress, with several traders calling on the government and well-meaning individuals for urgent support.
