She paid tribute to the patriots who defied military regimes and fought valiantly to defend the rights of Nigerians, highlighting that their courage has enabled present and future generations to enjoy freedom of expression, the right to vote, and a sense of national identity.
“We commend those who stood tall in the face of oppression, those who paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy the right to vote, to speak, and to be heard. Their legacy lives on in every Nigerian who believes in justice, unity, and the dream of a better nation,” she said.
Hon. Surah further emphasized that democracy should not be limited to elections, but must include everyday participation, accountability, and an inclusive governance system.

“Democracy is not just about elections—it’s about participation, accountability, and the shared belief that every voice matters,” she said.
Addressing the people of Epe and Nigerians across the country, the Chairman delivered a stirring call to embrace national unity and democratic principles.
“To the tenacious, noble, enterprising, and resilient people of Epe, and to Nigerians everywhere: let this day reawaken your faith in our democratic ideals.
