According to the PPRO, the arrest followed credible intelligence received around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, which led members of the local Epinmi Vigilante Group to apprehend one suspect, Arohunmolase Idowu, 25, of No. 14 Araromi Isalu Quarters, Epinmi Akoko. Idowu was reportedly found wandering the area under suspicious circumstances and was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his presence.
“Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer in Isua promptly mobilised a joint team comprising police operatives and personnel from sister security agencies,” the statement read.

During initial interrogation, Idowu allegedly revealed information that led to the arrest of another suspect, Bada Tosin, 26, also of Epinmi Akoko.
The two suspects later guided investigators to a concealed structure deep in the bush, which they allegedly used as their operational base for criminal activities.
Among the items recovered from the scene were two locally-made dane guns, several charms, cutlasses, axes, and other dangerous weapons. However, the most shocking discovery was a deep pit located inside the building — strongly suspected to have served as a confinement space for kidnapped victims.
“The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for discreet investigation,” the statement continued. “Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
Residents of Epinmi Akoko have expressed shock at the discovery, while commending the vigilance of the local security group and the swift action of the police.
The Ondo State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state, urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid security efforts.
