EKO HOT BLOG reports that the retirement ceremony took place at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, marking the end of an era for many who served in various capacities across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
A breakdown of the figures shows that 362 retirees were from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Nigerian Navy, and 46 from the Nigerian Air Force.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the ceremony was the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Aligbe Obhiozele. He commended the retirees for their decades of loyal service and urged them to remain ambassadors of military discipline in their post-service lives.
“Today we celebrate your courage, discipline, and selfless service to our great nation,” Obhiozele said. “Your 35-year journey embodies the finest military traditions of resilience and patriotism. As you transition to civilian life, we urge you to uphold these values and become pillars in your communities.”
He further encouraged the ex-servicemen to lead disciplined lives and continue contributing positively to national development.
As part of preparations for life outside the military, the retirees underwent vocational and entrepreneurship training at NAFRC. During the event, they were also presented with official discharge certificates.
One of the retirees, Sergeant Musa Bello, expressed optimism about the future, revealing that he was trained in agriculture and plans to invest his gratuity in farming.

“The training has prepared me well for civil life. I am proud of my service years,” he said.
