The facility aims to provide practical skills training to young people and adults seeking self-reliance and economic stability.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Pioneer District Governor of Rotary District 9112, Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan, expressed gratitude for the cooperation and leadership that brought the vision to life in just under four months.
“My sincere appreciation goes to Almighty God, whose hand moved this project from vision to reality in under four months, from March 13 to June 30, 2025,” he said.
“Special thanks to His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebowale, for releasing two and a half plots of land for this centre, and to Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye for his strong support.”
Adenekan encouraged young people to embrace the opportunity, describing vocational skills as a more sustainable alternative to commercial motorcycling.
“Acquiring vocational skills is far better than depending on okada riding. I urge all youths across Lagos State to learn a skill today and secure their future,” he said.
The Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, was represented at the event by Asiwaju W. Taiwo. In his remarks, he commended the Rotary Club for keeping its promise and emphasized the need for skill acquisition among local youths.
Also addressing attendees, Oba Adebowale reaffirmed his dedication to the progress of Odomola and its people.
“The development of Odomola Kingdom and the well-being of all our sons and daughters, both at home and abroad, remain my top priority,” he said.
“That is why I willingly released this land to Rotary Club for the construction of this centre. I now call on all our youths and unemployed adults to take advantage of this opportunity and empower themselves.”
The event concluded with the cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of commemorative plaques, marking the official commissioning of the project.
The centre was then handed over to the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, under the Ministry of Tertiary Education. The agency is expected to manage the facility and extend its programs to include adult literacy for those who cannot read or write.
