The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), in partnership with Ikorodu Local Government, has commissioned a new block of model classrooms at African Bethel Primary School, Ikorodu.
Ekohotblog reports that Delivered under LASUBEB’s infrastructural renewal initiative, the facility was inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, as part of efforts to provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils across the council.

Hon. Adesina described the project as a legacy achievement and a testament to the government’s commitment to foundational education.
“This isn’t just about buildings; it’s about laying a strong educational foundation. We owe it to our children to give them the best environment to learn and grow.
This collaboration with LASUBEB proves what’s possible when state and local governments work together.”
Board member of LASUBEB, Hon. Shittu, commended the council chairman for prioritizing education and fostering intergovernmental collaboration that delivers results.
“We are proud to be part of this transformation. Projects like this symbolize transparency, accountability, and purposeful leadership. LASUBEB remains committed to ensuring that every child learns in dignity.”
Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, praised the chairman for fulfilling his campaign promises and contributing to the educational development of Ikorodu.
“Chairman Adesina is leaving behind a legacy of meaningful impact. This school project is more than infrastructure,it is a statement of visionary leadership.”
Education Secretary of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, shared a deeply personal reflection as an alumnus of the school.
“It is very ironic and emotional that my first official assignment as Education Secretary is to witness this transformation in a school that shaped my early years. This project is a beacon of hope.”
Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Aarebirin Hon. (Dr.) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, also commended the project.
“It’s not about promise made, but promise kept. So many legends have passed through this school, and this is a worthy investment in its legacy.”
Community leaders echoed similar sentiments. Secretary of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, said the chairman had consistently delivered impactful projects.
“He is signing out in the most historic and remarkable way.”
Headmistress of African Bethel Primary School, Mrs. Fatola Abosede Mary, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school.
“This is a promise fulfilled. Our pupils now have a conducive learning space. We are truly grateful.”
Spiritual and traditional blessings were also offered. The Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, His Eminence Sheikh Seifudeen Ademoritan Ayinla Olowooribi, prayed for the chairman and praised his legacy of service.
Baale of Ojogbe, Chief Olukayode Olomo, described Hon. Wasiu Adesina as the gold standard of local government leadership.
“In Ikorodu, there are only two categories of local government chairmen ,Hon. Adesina and others.”
In his closing remarks, Hon. Adesina urged all stakeholders,teachers, parents, pupils, and community members,to take ownership of the facility and ensure it continues to serve future generations.
