Dr. Adefolalu was killed on October 28, 2023, just 26 days after Afekafe began working as a domestic staff member in her residence located in Gbaiko, Minna.
According to the court’s findings, Afekafe conspired with two others, identified as DJ Wallex and DJ Smart, who remain at large to carry out the attack. The motive stemmed from Afekafe’s dismissal for theft.
Justice Mohammed stated that the prosecution presented compelling evidence that proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

“The death of Dr. Mrs. Funmilayo Sherifat Adefolalu was caused by the convict with her friends, now at large, when they used knives to stab her several times and eventually hit her with a wooden stool to kill her,” the judge stated.
Afekafe, who was introduced to the household by a local pastor, admitted during questioning that she sought revenge after being fired.
Alongside her accomplices, she entered the victim’s home, assaulted her with knives, and ultimately killed her using a wooden stool. They also stole two mobile phones, a laptop, and foreign currency from the scene.
Justice Mohammed issued the life sentence following a two-hour judgment, concluding one of Niger State’s most disturbing homicide cases in recent memory.
