Former President Muhammadu Buhari has been buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, following his death in London.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) was held around 4:50 p.m., before he was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Buhari’s corpse arrived in Katsina aboard a Nigerian Air Force jet from the United Kingdom, where he passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior officials accompanied the body.
The funeral drew high-profile figures, including President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu, who landed in Katsina earlier in the day.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio was also in attendance, alongside a delegation from Niger Republic and other diplomatic envoys.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar confirmed his presence at the burial on his verified X (formerly Twitter) page, writing, “I just arrived in Daura for the interment of former President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Tight security enveloped Daura, with armoured military vehicles, DSS operatives, and heavily armed soldiers securing major routes leading to the burial site. Residents reported restricted movement in the area.
Ex-President Buhari died of leukaemia after months of treatment abroad.
Hotels across Katsina metropolis were fully booked as political allies, military leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries arrived in droves for the final rites.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023 and was known for his strict anti-corruption stance and military background.
