The unveiling formed part of several projects executed by Mushin LGA Chairman, Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye.
The Governor praised the initiative, describing it as a visionary step that promotes timely communication and transparency at the grassroots. The launch took place at Oliyide Street, Mushin, and was attended by key stakeholders in the state.
According to a statement released via the Lagos State Government’s official Facebook page, the Governor called the project “laudable and worthy of emulation by other Local Government Areas.”
“Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned the first Local Government-owned radio station in Nigeria,” the statement read, “emphasising the importance of information dissemination to the people.”
Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for the various development efforts undertaken in Mushin, highlighting the consolidation of federal services in a single location and the commissioning of new infrastructure, roads, markets, and healthcare projects.
“It’s always good to communicate with our people,” he said. “We must appreciate the Chairman for building these notable projects. Establishing this radio station is a real achievement.”

He emphasised that the commissioning of multiple infrastructure projects within one local council signals that the state is heading in the right direction under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor added that Lagos has been witnessing visible development, from the launch of administrative blocks to the upgrade of schools and primary healthcare centres.
“This shows the APC is a progressive party,” he said, urging residents to stand firmly on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate and actively participate in the electoral process.
He further stressed the importance of acquiring voter cards ahead of the next registration exercise, noting that the country’s prosperity rests on the continued implementation of current reforms.
The event was also marked by the commissioning of other legacy projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Mushin residents. These include road upgrades, market improvements, and integrated service delivery hubs.
Ishokan 106.7 FM is expected to serve as a communication bridge between the local government and its residents, focusing on community news, civic education, and government programmes.
The launch places Mushin at the forefront of grassroots innovation, making it a model for local councils across the country.
Sanwo-Olu urged other chairmen across the state to take a cue from Mushin’s achievements and prioritise people-driven projects that make governance more accessible.
Residents expressed excitement over the new station, describing it as a major step forward in community development and civic engagement.
The Governor concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, promising that more LGAs will soon experience similar milestones.
