One of the suspects, Kayode Adekunle, a 30-year-old bricklayer, was arrested in Osogbo for allegedly breaking into an unfinished residential building and stealing electrical equipment and wiring materials valued at around ₦2.5 million.
According to the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Chief Dr. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, the suspect took advantage of his access to construction sites to carry out the theft. He was arrested at his home after days of surveillance and was found with the stolen items in his possession.
Another suspect, 23-year-old tailor Lawal Musa, who lives in the Sabo area of Osogbo, was taken into custody for allegedly stealing household items. These included a flat screen television, two large standing fans, and electrical cables, with an estimated total value exceeding ₦800,000.
During questioning, Lawal admitted to selling the stolen goods to a local buyer known as “Rilwan” for a price far below their actual value. The Amotekun Corps stated that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the buyer is part of a larger criminal network.

In a separate incident, Lekan Bakare, a 29-year-old tailor and motorcycle rider, was arrested in Ede for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman at gunpoint.
The victim reported that Bakare lured her to his home under the guise of helping her find her missing ward. Once there, he allegedly threatened her with a locally made pistol and a knife before assaulting her.
The incident was reported without delay, and Amotekun officers arrested the suspect, who later confessed during interrogation. The case has been transferred to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
Commander Omoyele reaffirmed the Corps’ dedication to fighting crime in Osun State, emphasizing that the agency maintains a zero tolerance policy toward criminal activity. He also commended residents for their support and urged the public to continue sharing timely and useful information with security personnel.
“These arrests demonstrate our zero-tolerance stance against criminality. We will not relent in our mission to make every neighbourhood in Osun safe,” the statement made available by the agency’s image maker, Idowu Abass reads.
