EKO HOT BLOG reports that the price revision took effect on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, across several NNPCL retail stations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including locations along Kubwa Expressway, Gwarimpa, and Wuse Zone 4. This move represents a ₦5 per litre reduction from its previous rate.
The downward adjustment comes barely days after the company made an earlier cut, reflecting a pattern of retail pump price reviews in the deregulated downstream sector.
In a related development, retail partners of Dangote Refinery, including AP Ardova, MRS, Optima, and Bovas, are currently selling petrol at ₦885 per litre—₦5 lower than the new NNPCL rate.
The latest reduction follows remarks from the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, who recently explained that the deregulation of the petroleum downstream sector would continue to lead to periodic fluctuations in pump prices.
According to Maigandi, “There will be no fixed price anymore. Prices will keep moving depending on factors like landing cost, refinery production, and market forces.”

Though a marginal relief to consumers, the frequent adjustments have left Nigerians concerned about the broader stability of fuel pricing, especially amidst the prevailing economic pressure.
