The gathering came just hours ahead of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for today, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the State House Banquet Hall.
Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was expected to lead 23 other APC governors to the session, which insiders described as critical amid ongoing developments within the ruling party.
According to The Guardian, as of the time of the meeting, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji had already arrived at the venue, ahead of their colleagues.
President Tinubu used the opportunity to brief the governors on key Federal Government policy directions and ongoing internal party matters, particularly the consultations surrounding the emergence of a new APC National Chairman, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje last month.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to influence the tone and direction of today’s NEC session, where significant decisions regarding party leadership and structure are anticipated.
