EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement released Thursday night, Ganduje said Yilwatda’s appointment by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC marked a significant turning point for the party, especially as the political atmosphere in the country begins to shift.
Ganduje, who stepped down from the role citing health reasons, said he had strong confidence in Yilwatda’s capacity to lead the APC with vision and unity. He also urged Yilwatda to build on the progress laid by past leaders, including himself and his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu.
He applauded the NEC and other party organs for what he called a transparent and consensus-driven selection process. Ganduje further praised President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their statesmanship in managing the leadership transition within the party.
“The President and Vice President have shown maturity and far-sightedness in handling the affairs of the APC. Their commitment to unity and stability is commendable,” Ganduje stated.
He urged all party organs, including the NWC, state chapters, youth and women wings, to rally behind the new chairman. He emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, and loyalty going forward.

“As I step aside, I pledge my full support to Prof. Yilwatda and urge all members to do the same to keep building a united and progressive platform for all Nigerians,” he added.
Ganduje prayed for divine wisdom and strength for Yilwatda as he begins his new role.
