Media personality, Noble Igwe, has voiced his disapproval over the renaming of the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos to Baddo Bus Stop, in honour of rapper Olamide.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the renaming was officially announced by Kolade Alabi David, Chairman of Bariga LCDA, on Friday, July 25, during the commissioning of community projects.

Noble Igwe took to his X handle to stress that Charly Boy’s legacy cannot be erased, even if people disagree with him. “You don’t have to like him, but renaming a bus stop won’t erase his legacy,” he said.
He acknowledged Olamide’s achievements but argued that history should not be rewritten to suit current sentiments. The media personality noted that Charly Boy made cultural and political contributions that are deeply rooted in Nigeria’s public consciousness.

Social media reactions have since been mixed, with some accusing the authorities of tribal bias, while others supported the gesture as a celebration of Olamide’s impact on Lagos and Nigerian music.
Igwe’s post has added fuel to the ongoing debate over how public landmarks should be named and whether legacies should be honoured or replaced based on popularity.
