D’Tigress, who are eyeing a historic fifth consecutive Afrobasket crown, wasted no time stamping their presence, racing to a 21-9 lead by the end of the first quarter leaving the Cameroonians to struggle to match the pace. By halftime, Nigeria maintained a comfortable 41-29 advantage.

The third quarter turned out to be a one-sided affair, as the Nigerian ladies tightened their defence and overwhelmed Cameroon, scoring 25 points while restricting their opponents to just two. The final quarter sealed the rout, with D’Tigress cruising to a commanding 36-point win.
Amy Okoronkwo led the scoring chart with 18 points, while Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi added 12 points apiece to round off a complete team performance.
With the win, Nigeria have now reached the semi-finals in five straight editions of the Women’s Afrobasket, a run that dates back to 2015. They will now square off against long-time rivals Senegal on Saturday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
Senegal also booked their spot in the last four after edging past Angola 69-60 in a tightly contested quarter-final. The West African giants now prepare for a blockbuster semi-final clash with Nigeria.
D’Tigress defeated Senegal in the finals of both the 2017 and 2019 editions, and also knocked them out in the semi-finals in 2023. Saturday’s meeting will be the fourth time both sides are clashing in the knockout stages in less than a decade.
Nigeria head coach Rena Wakama, speaking after the Cameroon win, praised her team’s focus and discipline but warned that Senegal would be a different challenge.
