The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have announced a new collaboration to carry out a voter registration exercise across the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that, the partnership, which was confirmed during a meeting at the PLASIEC headquarters in Jos, aims to strengthen the relationship between the two electoral bodies and ensure a smooth and credible process.

The Chairman of PLASIEC, Plangji Cishak, has promised the full support of his commission for the exercise. He also praised INEC’s commitment to being professional and transparent.
In turn, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for INEC, Abubakar Sadiq, announced that the voter registration will happen in two phases. The online pre-registration is set to begin on August 18, 2024, while physical registration will start on August 25, 2024, and will cover all 17 Local Government Areas in Plateau State.
The two electoral bodies said their partnership is crucial for a better democracy and for people to trust the voting process. They promised to be open and fair so that more citizens will register and vote.
