EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement was made on Monday by George Turnah, Secretary of the pro-Wike South-South caucus, during an interview on Channels Television. Turnah argued that Wike qualifies as the party’s national leader because he is the highest-ranking PDP member currently serving in the Federal Government.
Responding to questions about the Board of Trustees meeting held over the weekend at Wike’s official residence in Abuja, Turnah defended the choice of venue.
He said the meeting reflected Wike’s perceived status within the party.
“Is it strange to you that PDP could have their BOT meetings, national caucus meetings, or even NEC meetings in the villa if we have a president of Nigeria? We have the leader of our party who is in the national government and by that he is the national leader of the party. We met at the residence of our national leader, His Excellency, Chief Nyesom Wike,” he stated.
Turnah also dismissed the legitimacy of the mainstream PDP faction aligned with Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and supported by several governors.
He described the Ibadan National Convention, which produced the new National Working Committee, as flawed. According to him, many states did not send certified delegates because they failed to conduct the mandatory congresses.

His comments add fresh tension to the party’s leadership crisis, as rival blocs continue to dispute the authority and legitimacy of each other’s structures.
