No fewer than 573 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sabuwar Dan Masara community, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, have dumped the ruling party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the mass defection, which took place during a well-attended event in the town on Friday, was led by Mustapha Adamu, popularly known as Shugaba, from Madobi Ward.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Shugaba said their decision to leave the APC stemmed from deep dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and policies, especially its failure to address the prevailing hardships across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the new entrants, Mustapha Adamu, popularly known as Shugaba, from Madobi ward, said their decision was driven by the current socio-economic challenges facing the country and leadership failure.
“We are tired of being part of a political structure that no longer prioritises justice, fairness, and inclusivity. It has become clear that the APC no longer represents the hopes and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians,” Shugaba said.
He said the PDP represents a more credible platform for positive change and meaningful development.
“We are confident in the PDP’s commitment to national progress. The party has shown a greater concern for the welfare of Nigerians, and that aligns with our aspirations,” he said.

He further called on other APC members who share their frustrations to consider joining the PDP in a collective push for a better future.
“We urge others who believe in unity, fairness, and progress to join us. Together, we can shape a brighter tomorrow for Jigawa and Nigeria as a whole,” Shugaba added.
While receiving the defectors, the PDP deputy chairman in Jigawa State, Umar Danjani, who represented the party’s state chairman at the event, applauded the move and assured the newcomers of equal opportunity and a place in the PDP’s rebuilding efforts.
This is a major boost for our party. The decision of these patriotic Nigerians to join us shows that the PDP is regaining trust and momentum in the state,” Danjani noted.
He described the defection as a sign of growing dissatisfaction with the APC, stressing that the PDP remains open to all Nigerians who believe in progressive governance.
“We are committed to restoring hope and delivering on the promises that matter to our people development, unity, and responsible leadership,” he added.
The development is coming ahead of the anticipated forth coming election.
