Ahead of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election, the Obidient Movement Worldwide has appealed to party members to avoid actions that could create divisions within the party and weaken its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the group’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, said the primary should be seen as a democratic exercise designed to strengthen the party rather than a battle that leaves lasting cracks among members.

He urged aspirants and their supporters to place the party’s long-term objectives above individual political interests, stressing that unity would be essential for future electoral success.

Tanko noted that the movement remains committed to supporting the emergence of a credible leadership platform capable of offering Nigerians an alternative vision for governance.
According to him, the current political alliance within the NDC was formed to pursue a common purpose and should not be undermined by disagreements arising from the contest for party positions.
He reminded participants that electoral contests naturally produce different outcomes and called on all aspirants to demonstrate tolerance, patience and respect for the democratic process.
The Obidient leader also cautioned against public disputes that could damage the party’s image, advising members to address concerns through established internal procedures.

He maintained that resolving disagreements within the party would help preserve cohesion and prevent unnecessary distractions ahead of the next election cycle.
Tanko further warned that internal conflicts could provide opportunities for rival political groups to exploit weaknesses within the NDC.
He therefore encouraged party faithful to rally behind the eventual winners of the primaries and channel their energy toward building a united front for future political contests.
According to him, cooperation and collective commitment after the primaries will be critical to the party’s efforts to expand its support base and strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
