EKO HOT BLOG reports that the gesture was announced during a colourful ceremony at the Government House in Yola on Friday, where Governor Ahmadu Fintiri praised Madugu’s leadership in guiding the Super Falcons to their record-extending 10th continental title.
Nigeria staged a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in the final, cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
“We are proud of Coach Madugu for bringing glory not just to Nigeria but to Adamawa State,” Governor Fintiri said. “His leadership and tactical brilliance have once again placed our state on the continental map.
This recognition is both a reward for his hard work and an inspiration to young talents across Adamawa.”
Visibly moved by the honour, Madugu expressed gratitude to the state and its people. “I’m overwhelmed by this recognition.
My mission has always been to prove that northern coaches can excel at the highest level of football. This is a legacy I hope inspires future generations,” he said.
The celebration comes amid a nationwide wave of rewards for the Super Falcons.
President Bola Tinubu hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, awarding each player $100,000, while Madugu and his technical crew received $50,000, national honours, and residential apartments.
Telecom giant MTN also donated ₦150 million to the squad.
