- Intelligence Director, Tulsi Gabbard alleged that certain top officials from the Obama era were involved in treason against Donald Trump’s Administration.

This directive, reportedly contained in a letter signed by Bondi, comes amid renewed claims of political bias in how U.S. intelligence agencies assessed Russia’s interference in the 2016 vote.
According to a senior official in the Trump administration, the grand jury will explore whether any crimes were committed by former officials when they evaluated Russia’s involvement during that election cycle.

The official, however, confirmed that no timeline has been set for the grand jury’s first sitting, and details about potential charges or individuals under investigation remain undisclosed.
The move follows a controversial statement last month by Intelligence Director, Tulsi Gabbard, who publicly alleged that certain top officials from the Obama era were involved in what she described as a treasonous conspiracy to undermine former President Donald Trump.
Gabbard said she had forwarded criminal referrals to the Justice Department.
However, the development has attracted sharp criticism from former senior officials. One ex-Justice Department figure labelled it a dangerous political stunt while a former national security expert noted that multiple investigations including those led by Republican lawmakers had found no evidence to support such claims.

“It just doesn’t make any sense,” said the former official, who asked not to be named.
The U.S. Department of Justice declined to comment on the matter.
Critics, particularly from the Democratic Party, have accused the Trump administration of attempting to shift public attention away from other controversies, such as the ongoing scrutiny over the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Some also argue that the administration is using state institutions to pursue political vendettas.
Meanwhile, conservative voices have expressed dissatisfaction with how the case has been handled so far, calling for more transparency and demanding the release of classified documents.
A notable report published in 2020 by the bipartisan U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, led at the time by Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican from Florida, found no proof of a conspiracy against Trump by Obama administration officials.
