The town of Ilara in Epe Division, Lagos State, is set to host a three-day celebration in honour of the fifth coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), the Alara of Ilara Kingdom.
Eko Hot Blog reports that since ascending the throne in 2020, Oba Ogunsanwo has been widely recognized for his transformative leadership, blending traditional values with a progressive vision that has brought notable development to Ilara and its surrounding communities.

The anniversary celebration, organized by the Coronation Planning Committee, will take place from Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17, 2025, featuring a series of events aimed at celebrating the monarch’s achievements and his contributions to community development.
Our Correspondent gathered that the programme will commence on Friday, August 15 with a community empowerment initiative and free medical outreach, providing essential support to residents.
A special Jumat service will follow later in the day, held in honour of the monarch’s five-year reign.

According to the organisers, the events reflect Oba Ogunsanwo’s longstanding commitment to public welfare and inclusive leadership.
The main coronation ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, at the Alara’s palace.
A highlight of the event will be the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles on seven distinguished individuals and couples for their contributions to the kingdom’s growth and development.
The honorees include:
- Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa – Balogun of Ilara Kingdom
- Surv. Jelili Kolawole Olayemi – Olotu of Ilara Kingdom
- Prof. Kemi Pinhero – Baamofin of Ilara Kingdom
- Amb. Oluwatoyin Lawal & Mrs. Abiodun Lawal – Bobagunwa and Yeye Bobagunwa of Ilara Kingdom
- Dr. Olanrewaju Obasa – Otunba Bobaseye of Ilara Kingdom
- Chief Akinyele Oladeji & Mrs. Toyin Oladeji Ashipa and Yeye Ashipa of Ilara Kingdom
- Barr. Rotimi Edu & Mrs. Olayemi Edu – Otunba Jokotade and Yeye Otunba Jokotade of Ilara Kingdom
The conferment, the palace said, is a recognition of the honorees’ loyalty and service to the crown.
The anniversary events will conclude on Sunday, August 17, with a thanksgiving service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ilara-Epe, followed by a royal banquet.
The banquet will bring together dignitaries, guests, and members of the community to celebrate the monarch’s legacy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Oba Ogunsanwo before his coronation served in the Lagos State Public Service, most notably as Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). A respected finance and taxation expert, he has brought administrative acumen and strategic leadership to the throne.

Since becoming Alara, he has championed initiatives in education, health, youth empowerment, and cultural preservation. His reign has also been marked by strengthened community ties and increased visibility for the kingdom.
