- Namadi acted as surety for a suspected drug dealer
- Government panel found his action inappropriate
- Governor accepted his resignation immediately.
Kano State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, has resigned following a probe into his involvement in the bail of a suspected drug kingpin.
According to Eko Hot Blog, Namadi’s resignation came after a government panel faulted him for standing as surety for Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, a suspected drug trafficker, without proper vetting. The panel was set up by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to investigate the controversial bail process.

The probe concluded that Namadi acted inappropriately by offering to guarantee the suspect’s release without clearance from higher authorities or due diligence. The report, submitted to the governor on Monday, noted that the commissioner’s actions did not align with the values of the current administration, especially in the fight against drug abuse.
Shortly after receiving the panel’s findings, Governor Yusuf accepted Namadi’s resignation and expressed appreciation for the panel’s work. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

In his resignation letter, Namadi maintained that he had no criminal intent but chose to step down to avoid further distractions. He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve the state.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, in a statement confirming the development, emphasized that all government officials must seek proper authorization before getting involved in sensitive legal matters.
Namadi’s exit comes amid growing pressure on public officials to uphold ethical standards, especially when dealing with issues related to crime and justice.
