EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was disclosed by the PDP’s National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, during an interview in Abuja. Woyengikuro described Jonathan as the “national leader” of the PDP and a respected political figure across the country.
“Is he not the best candidate for us at this moment?” Woyengikuro asked. “Goodluck Jonathan is not just a former president; he is the leader of the party now. Aside from Obasanjo, the next person in line is him.”
He further revealed that high-level consultations are currently ongoing between the PDP leadership and Jonathan’s close associates in a bid to convince him to return to active politics.
“We must salvage this country, for our generation and those to come,” Woyengikuro stated. “When we talk about Southern Presidency, someone like Goodluck Jonathan stands out.”
When asked if the party would grant Jonathan an automatic ticket if he returns, Woyengikuro responded without hesitation.
“For me, that’s what I firmly stand for. Quote me anywhere—automatic ticket for him as it stands now,” he declared.

Woyengikuro also commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, calling him a “vibrant leader” with the capacity to bridge generational gaps in Nigeria’s politics.
“These are the two main individuals I stand for: Goodluck Jonathan and Seyi Makinde,” he concluded.
As the 2027 elections approach, the PDP appears to be positioning itself with strategic moves and internal realignments aimed at regaining national prominence.
