Wahab Olabanji, an accountant currently serving with the Oyo State Health Management Board, has been sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison after being found guilty of fraudulently collecting money from unsuspecting individuals under the false promise of securing them employment.
Eko Hot Blog reports that before his trial, Wahab held the position of Chief Executive Officer (Accounts) at Grade Level 14 within the State Hospital Management Board.

He was accused of receiving various sums from applicants who had applied for the most recent recruitment exercises into the board and the State Teaching Service Commission.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Anti Corruption Agency (OYACA), Justice Eni Esan (retired), announced the conviction in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
She explained that Olabanji was convicted on a 30 count charge involving official corruption, obtaining money under false pretence, and conversion. He was sentenced to six months in prison for each count, with the option of paying a fine of N50,000 per count.
Esan said, “The man was convicted on a 30-count charge of official corruption, obtaining money under false pretence and conversion.

However, after a rigorous 17-month trial, the court delivered its judgement on Friday, August 1, 2025, in which the defendant was found guilty on all the 30 counts and he was sentenced to imprisonment for six months with an option of N50,000 fine on each count of the charge.
“The court also ordered the defendant to pay all sums fraudulently obtained from his victims within three months to remedy the wrong suffered by the victims due to the corrupt and fraudulent actions of the defendant.”
She further emphasized OYACA’s unwavering stance on eradicating corruption in the public sector of the state.
