In a statement, the National Coordinator-General of WoPU, Prince Williams Enredonana Akporeha, said the appointment demonstrated the confidence of the APC leadership in Yari’s political experience, organisational ability and capacity to mobilise support across the country.
Akporeha noted that Yari’s experience as a former governor, senator and prominent APC figure had prepared him for the responsibility of coordinating the party’s presidential campaign.
He said the former Zamfara governor was a tested political leader with experience in governance, party organisation and grassroots mobilisation.
“Senator Abdulaziz Yari is a tested political leader with considerable experience in governance, party organisation and grassroots mobilisation,” Akporeha said.
He added that the appointment showed the confidence reposed in Yari’s ability to lead a campaign of national importance.
WoPU expressed confidence that Yari would bring discipline, strategic coordination and effective leadership to the campaign council while ensuring that the APC’s message reaches Nigerians across different regions and sectors.
The group also said Yari’s political network would be useful in coordinating party structures, strengthening grassroots mobilisation and communicating the achievements and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to voters.
Yari was appointed DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council after President Tinubu constituted the party’s 2027 campaign structure.
Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda will serve as vice-chairmen. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary.
The 108-member campaign council also includes senior APC leaders, ministers, governors, lawmakers and political strategists who will oversee various aspects of the party’s campaign ahead of the presidential election.
WoPU further stressed the importance of placing the interests of workers and ordinary Nigerians at the centre of political discussions as the 2027 election approaches.

According to the group, it will continue to advocate policies focused on economic opportunities, improved livelihoods, social inclusion and better living standards for Nigerians.
The organisation also congratulated other members of the newly constituted campaign council and urged them to work collectively towards achieving the party’s objectives.
WoPU wished Yari wisdom, strength and success in his new role, expressing optimism that his leadership would contribute significantly to the effectiveness of the APC campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Yari has also accepted the appointment and pledged to work towards securing victory for Tinubu, describing the campaign as an opportunity to engage Nigerians across the country on the direction of the nation.
