EKO HOT BLOG reports that the confrontation, captured in a viral video, showed KWAM1 allegedly obstructing the aircraft’s departure.
The incident sparked widespread criticism and led the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), to impose a six-month flying ban on the singer.
Captain Ogoyi and her co-pilot, Flight Officer Ivan Oloba, were also suspended for alleged safety regulation breaches.
In a written statement reported by The Will, Ogoyi explained that boarding for the scheduled flight VK201 began at 8:10 am. According to her, KWAM1 approached the aircraft at about 8:15 am carrying a gold flask containing an unidentified substance. She said the singer refused requests from ground staff to inspect the flask, allegedly responding, “Do you know who I am? You have no right to tell me to open my flask.”
Ogoyi stated that KWAM1 was seen drinking from the flask, and staff suspected it contained alcohol, which is prohibited on board flights in Nigeria. She added that security personnel repeated the instruction to check the contents, but the singer became confrontational, disrupting boarding.
“To manage the situation, I left the cockpit to engage him amicably. Without warning, he poured the contents of the flask on me, security personnel, and some passengers,” Ogoyi recounted.

She further claimed that after the aircraft doors were shut, KWAM1 remained near the plane, blocking movement. A public announcement was made to explain the delay before security officers cleared the area. The flight eventually departed for Lagos at about 8:50 am.
