The PDP highlighted that despite this significant expenditure, the state failed to attract any foreign direct investment during the same period.

In a statement titled “Stop the Jamboree,” the PDP called the government’s spending an “insult” to the people of Edo State. The party pointed out that many residents are facing struggles with poor roads, inadequate healthcare services, and delayed salary payments.
The opposition party also noted that while Edo did not attract foreign investment, six other states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were successful in doing so.

The PDP has now demanded that the government immediately halt this wasteful spending and release a detailed list of all the trips taken.
In a swift defense, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, rejected the PDP’s accusations. He stated that every expenditure was strategic and aimed at attracting crucial investments and partnerships for the state.
He also accused the PDP of hypocrisy, claiming their own previous administration was known for “frivolous” trips and “monumental corruption.”
