A high-speed car race reportedly organised by some suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, ended in tragedy on Monday afternoon in the Ipara area of Remo, Ogun State.
According to Eko Hot Blog, the incident claimed the lives of five people including two innocent residents.

According to local sources, the car race, allegedly involving a wager of N30,000, took place at around 2:00 p.m. One of the participating vehicles, said to be a Lexus car without a registration number, lost control and veered off the road, crashing into a roadside shop.
Two bystanders, identified as Akeem Ashiru and Shina Badejo, were killed instantly by the impact.
The three occupants of the vehicle, all male, were critically injured and rushed to different hospitals.
However, the driver was confirmed dead at the scene, and the other two reportedly died later while receiving treatment.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the car was moving at top speed along the Fidiwo route before the driver lost control near the Owolowo area.
Emergency responders reportedly arrived at the scene to rescue the victims trapped inside the wreckage.

Newsmen on ground captured the devastating aftermath of the crash, including the damaged shop and victims lying motionless on the ground.
An official from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps confirmed the incident, explaining that the driver died immediately while the two other occupants later passed on at different hospitals. The accident is now being investigated further.
