In a bid to encourage youths in Epe Division to be self-reliant, focused, creative, and productive, a member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Apex Leader in Epe Division, Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki, popularly known as Bamu, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, led council chairmen, party leaders, and faithful members to the Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki Vocational Training Centre at Kasali Oluwo Street, Epe.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the visit, aimed at celebrating and encouraging the management, staff, and new graduands of the centre, was also an opportunity to assess the progress made in empowering local youths through vocational skills training.

The centre, built during the administration of former Epe LG Chairman Hon. Adedoyin Adesanya, has continued to produce skilled artisans and entrepreneurs.

Among the dignitaries present were the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess (Dr.) Surah Olayemi Animashaun FHTI (represented by Vice Chairman Alhaji Sikiru Owolomoshe); Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye; Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Akogun Wale Raji-Anomo; APC State Welfare Officer, Hon. Kehinde Adeniyi; APC Epe LGA Chairman,
Hon. Oloruntoyin Gbadamoshi; APC Apex Leader, Alhaji Olamiji Allison; APC Overall Women Leader, Alhaja Oluwo; Chief of Staff of Epe LG, Hon. Tunde Odupe; immediate past Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Sikiru Rahmon; Leader of Eredo LCDA Legislative Arm, Hon. Bakare Olowo; as well as ward chairmen and other party faithful.

In their remarks, Alhaji Bamu, Hon. Owolomoshe, Hon. Adeniyi, and Hon. Raji-Anomo praised the quality of training offered at the centre.
“Everyone cannot attain formal education and secure a white-collar job; therefore, acquiring vocational skills is very important,” they said.
They stressed that with the high level of unemployment in the country, Nigerian youths must be equipped with both formal education and vocational expertise.
The leaders congratulated the graduands, who earlier showcased their skills during the ceremony, and commended the management and facilitators for positively impacting the lives of many youths and women in the division.
Earlier, the management of the centre expressed gratitude to Alhaji Bamu for his continuous support and dedication to youth empowerment.
They described him as “a good father who cares not only about the welfare and success of his own children but also about the progress of others in the community.”
