Eko Hot Blog reports that the most recent edition of the exercise, held at the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, offered staff members free blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, and essential drugs at no cost.
The initiative, which has become a routine part of the council’s welfare package, is aimed at promoting early detection and management of health issues among employees.
Addressing the importance of the programme, Engr. Kasali said: “A healthy workforce is a productive workforce.
This monthly medical check-up is part of our vision to build a healthier Lekki LCDA and to ensure that our staff can serve the community with renewed energy and focus.”
He encouraged every staff member to take advantage of the initiative, noting that preventive healthcare plays a vital role in reducing absenteeism and increasing efficiency.
“We will continue to prioritize the well-being of our workforce because they are the backbone of service delivery. When our staff are healthy, the entire community benefits,” he added.
Speaking on the medical impact, the Medical Officer of Health explained that regular monitoring of vital signs such as blood pressure and blood sugar helps in preventing life-threatening conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and stroke.
“This initiative is not just about treatment; it is about prevention and awareness. It gives staff the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health,” she said.
Staff members who participated expressed appreciation to the Chairman for sustaining the programme, describing it as a thoughtful and life-saving intervention, especially in times of economic hardship when healthcare costs are rising.
The monthly medical outreach is expected to continue fostering a culture of wellness among council workers, setting a standard for staff welfare programmes across Lagos State local councils.
