The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Rtd), Gomo II, has been confirmed dead. He passed away on Sunday, August 17, at the age of 79.
The late emir reportedly died in his palace in Zuru, according to a source quoted by the Nigerian Tribune.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Born in Zuru, Kebbi State, the monarch had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army, which he joined on December 10, 1962. He attended several military courses both in Nigeria and abroad and rose through the ranks to become a major general before retirement.
Following the military coup of December 31, 1983, which brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power, he was appointed as the military governor of Bauchi State.
He held the position until August 1985, when General Ibrahim Babangida assumed leadership.

Emir Sani Sami, until his death, remained a highly respected first-class traditional ruler, known for his contributions to national unity and development in Kebbi State.
