- Muslim – Muslim Ticket Not a Threat to Tinubu’s Victory – Yerima
- Yerima reacted to comment attributed to the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum
- “The claim that the APC may lose the 2027 presidential election if President Bola Tinubu retains Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate is ridiculous and unfounded”
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Haruna Yerima, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election if he retains Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Yerima stated this on Saturday in Abuja while reacting to a comment attributed to the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum, NENF.

The group had urged President Tinubu to drop Senator Shettima and avoid repeating the Muslim Muslim ticket. It further suggested that Tinubu should select a Christian from Plateau, Benue, or Taraba states to ease concerns about an alleged Islamisation agenda under his administration.
According to the group, maintaining the Muslim Muslim ticket would hand the opposition an easy campaign tool.
In response, Yerima dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading.
“The claim that the APC may lose the 2027 presidential election if President Bola Tinubu retains Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate is ridiculous and unfounded,” he said.

The former House of Representatives member also described the notion that an Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi ticket could defeat Tinubu and Shettima as a faulty and unsubstantiated political calculation.
“We dismiss this statement by one Dominic Alancha of a faceless organisation, the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum, who urged President Tinubu to drop Senator Shettima and avoid repeating the Muslim Muslim ticket,” he added.
