- Adeyanju Slams Peter Obi Over Criticism Row
- Says He Would Vote Tinubu Over Peter Obi
- He also berated the Obidient Movement for being vocal about their criticism of other politicians
Rights activist and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has once again launched a fresh attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, declaring that he would choose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over Obi in any future election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Adeyanju made the remark while reacting to Obi’s threat of a defamation lawsuit against him during an interview on Channels Television.

“If the opposition fields Peter Obi, I will vote for Tinubu,” Adeyanju stated firmly.
Obi had earlier threatened legal action, accusing Adeyanju of repeatedly making defamatory and derogatory remarks against him. The former Anambra State governor is demanding a full retraction of the alleged damaging statements.
Despite this, Adeyanju has refused to back down, insisting on his position and describing Obi as the leader of a “mob” that allegedly harasses and intimidates critics online.
“God forbid that I support APC, but if the opposition fields Peter Obi, I will vote for Tinubu. We cannot have a man leading a mob that terrorises people online, who cannot tolerate criticism, and who labels anyone who does not support him as an enemy of Nigeria or a compromised person,” Adeyanju said.
He also questioned Obi’s record on democracy and governance, suggesting that the former governor has not made the same sacrifices others have in defending democratic values.
“Has Peter Obi criticised this government the way I have? Does he even understand what democracy means? What sacrifices has he made for its preservation? I have put my life on the line for this country and faced multiple charges, including terrorism, in defence of democracy,” Adeyanju added.

Adeyanju urged Obi to develop a thicker skin, saying public figures must expect scrutiny and criticism. He also accused the Obidient Movement Obi’s supporters of hypocrisy, alleging that they freely attack other politicians but cannot tolerate any criticism of their candidate.
“If Peter Obi does not want to be criticised, he should go home and eat jollof rice,” Adeyanju declared. “Anyone who seeks public office must accept criticism, scrutiny, and even insults. Tinubu can be called a drug lord, Atiku can be labelled a looter, judges can be named and criticised, but somehow their candidate must remain untouchable. It is this double standard that fuels intolerance among his supporters.”
The Obidient Movement has faced repeated accusations of online harassment and cyberbullying, a claim its members have consistently denied.
