Onosa community in Ibeju-Lekki witnessed calm today after hours of unrest sparked by a violent clash involving a police officer and residents. Reports indicated that three persons lost their lives during the incident at Onosa Bus Stop on Wednesday night, leading to widespread protest and tension in the area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that earlier today, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, in company of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, addressed a large crowd of protesters.

Hon. Olowa assured residents that government would prioritize the welfare of the victims and provide necessary support. “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident.
The government is responsive and will take full responsibility in ensuring that victims receive treatment and adequate compensation,” he stated.
In his remarks, CP Moshood Jimoh confirmed the arrest of the police officer involved, stressing that justice will be served.
“The officer responsible has been arrested, and I assure you that the law will take its full course. We will not tolerate acts that jeopardize the peace and safety of the people,” the Commissioner of Police said.
The protest, which initially disrupted movement around Eleko and Onosa axis with fears of escalation down to Ajah and Epe, has since calmed following the intervention of security agencies and the assurances given by government authorities.
Residents were urged to remain peaceful and law-abiding as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
