According to Eko Hot Blog, Melaye insisted that the party has lost its independence and is now under the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a recent interview, Melaye ruled out any possibility of PDP returning to its former strength, stating that it has been taken over by interests loyal to the APC.
“The PDP is finished. That party has been buried, and there’s no resurrection. Not even Jesus can bring it back to life,” he said.

Melaye, who previously ran for governor of Kogi State under the PDP, accused unnamed individuals linked to the APC of hijacking the internal workings of the PDP from the Presidential Villa.
According to him, “PDP is now being directed from the Villa. It is essentially being run by APC agents who have turned it into a puppet.”
He further revealed that he has officially parted ways with the PDP and is now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Melaye expressed strong belief that the ADC has the capacity to unseat the APC in the next general elections.
“I have joined the ADC, and with God on our side, we will send APC packing by May 29, 2027,” he affirmed.
While distancing himself from PDP matters, the former lawmaker called on Nigerians to shift focus to more pressing national concerns such as rising poverty, mismanagement, and hunger.
“There are serious problems facing this country. Let’s not waste time on a dead party. We should be talking about the suffering of Nigerians, not internal politics,” he added.
