The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of political betrayal and inconsistency.
Eko Hot Blog reports that during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Wike dismissed Tambuwal’s recent comments about choosing Atiku over him in leadership matters.

Wike said, “What do you mean by leadership and friendship? You cannot talk about leadership and ignore the person.”
He went on to add, “These people have been consistently inconsistent. When someone is always betraying, what else can you expect?”
He also alleged that Tambuwal had been angling for a Senate position if Atiku had won the 2023 presidential election.
He claimed both Tambuwal and Atiku are known for frequently switching parties to serve their own interests.
Earlier this month, Tambuwal, speaking on the same programme, declared his loyalty to Atiku.
He said his political decisions were based on governance values, not personal relationships.
Tambuwal stated, “When it comes to the leadership of this country and its people, I would support Atiku over Wike any day. This is about collaboration, not personal feelings.”
He stressed that his differences with other politicians had always been ideological, not personal, and he maintained good relationships across party lines.
“You have never heard me go against President Bola Tinubu or Nyesom Wike on a personal level,” he said.
Tambuwal explained his past disagreements with former President Goodluck Jonathan were based on principle and the direction of governance, not personal animosity.

“I disagreed with Goodluck Jonathan on policy, which led me to leave PDP for APC,” he added.
The tension between Wike and other PDP leaders has been ongoing since 2023, when Wike openly criticized Atiku, Tambuwal, and Bukola Saraki for disregarding zoning arrangements that would have favored the South.
Wike reminded viewers he once supported Tambuwal’s bid for Speaker of the House of Representatives, even though it went against the party’s official preference.
Despite the political clash, Tambuwal emphasized that disagreements in politics should not be confused with personal enmity.
