EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the Abure-led faction, Obiora Ifoh, the incident began at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Ifoh said Abure was accosted in the boarding queue by a woman identified as Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama P, while preparing to board a Max Air flight to Benin.
Despite interventions from flight attendants, Ifoh alleged that Oruche continued to harass Abure throughout the flight. The confrontation reportedly intensified on arrival at Benin Airport, where Oruche allegedly attempted to lunge at him again before security operatives intervened. She was subsequently handed over to the police.
The LP spokesman further claimed that Oruche, described as a content creator and member of a “known political family,” had in one of her online videos boasted of being untouchable due to her alleged police connections. He added that she had vowed to continue targeting Abure and other party leaders, accusing them of destroying the Labour Party and being responsible for Peter Obi’s strained ties with the party.
Condemning the attack, Ifoh described it as a “suicidal aggression” against the party’s leadership. He called on the Inspector General of Police to launch a thorough investigation into the matter and provide adequate protection for Abure.
He further alleged that the incident was a deliberate attempt by anti-democratic forces to destabilise the Labour Party, urging members to remain calm and law-abiding as the police handle the case.
