EKO HOT BLOG reports that Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to his palace by former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, alongside former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Senate President Iyorcha Ayu, and other prominent political figures.
While reflecting on his years in active politics, the monarch recalled his close political journey with Atiku and other leaders, noting that he had now stepped away due to his traditional responsibilities.
“I am no more one of you. I am not a politician anymore. Welcome to my house. Now that I am the Olubadan, I am no more interested in any other things than the Olubadan,” he said.
The revered monarch also traced his political history, recalling his time in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), his years in exile, and later, his involvement with the PDP. He noted that when he sought to build a separate political identity, he founded the Accord Party, which grew into a household name in Oyo State.
Acknowledging the influence of religious and community leaders, Oba Ladoja stressed that the core duty of leadership remains the promotion of justice and fairness. He pledged to use his throne to serve Ibadanland, Oyo State, Nigeria, and the wider world.
“All the religious leaders said that the only thing leaders can do is to promote justice and fairness. I will serve my people, Ibadan people, Oyo State, Africa and the world at large. I will depend on your support and advice,” he added.
